Frequently Asked Questions
Clear answers to common questions about hiring a helper with One Helper.
Getting Started
-
It depends on the type of helper you choose and how quickly interviews and paperwork are completed. Transfer cases may take around 1–3 weeks, while fresh or Ex-Singapore helper cases may take around 3–6 weeks.
-
We’ll ask about your household, who the helper will be caring for, your main priorities, daily routines, accommodation arrangements and any preferences you may have.
This helps us narrow down the type of helper who may be suitable before recommending profiles.
-
We currently work with helpers from Indonesia, Myanmar and the Philippines. Indonesian and Myanmar helpers may be available as fresh, Ex-Singapore or transfer helpers, while Philippine helpers are currently available for transfer cases only.
Helpers and Matching
-
We usually recommend 2–3 carefully selected profiles based on your household needs and priorities.
Rather than sending a long list, we prefer to narrow the options so they are easier to compare and consider.
-
Yes. We’ll arrange an interview so you can speak with the helper, ask questions and get a better sense of whether she may be suitable for your household before deciding.
-
A fresh helper is coming to Singapore for the first time, while a transfer helper is already in Singapore and is moving from one employer to another.
You may also come across Ex-Singapore helpers. These are helpers who have worked in Singapore before but have since returned home. They are not considered fresh helpers.
Transfer helpers can generally be deployed sooner, while fresh and Ex-Singapore helpers require overseas processing and usually take longer.
-
Yes. We’ll first understand your household needs, then recommend helpers whose experience and preferences are relevant to them. This may include infant or child care, elderly care, cooking, pets and general household routines.
Fees and Payments
-
The $1,588 agency fee covers our consultation, sourcing and matching, helper recommendations, documentation and administrative processing, MOM application-related fees and requirements, medical examination and coordination through to deployment.
It also includes our support throughout the hiring process and after placement.
-
The placement fee, sometimes referred to as the helper’s loan, is separate from the agency fee. It is usually equivalent to 0–6 months of the helper’s salary, depending on the helper and source country.
The employer advances this amount first, and it is then recovered through salary deductions from the helper according to the agreed repayment schedule.
-
Yes. The main costs not included are:
Helper insurance
The helper’s placement fee / loan, where applicable
The $1,588 agency fee already includes the MOM application, administrative processing and other mandatory placement-related costs covered by our package.

-
Yes. While the service-fee component is waived under the six-month replacement guarantee, any new MOM fees, insurance and other mandatory third-party costs required for the replacement will still be payable.
A new helper may also have her own placement fee or loan, where applicable.
-
